Adding Board Files to Installation

Adding Board Files Repository Path

To avoid the necessity to install the board files whenever you update Vivado, the board files can be installed in a separate local or remote directory. Board files that have been installed in a separate directory need to be added to the Vivado board files path for reference. This can be done from the TCL command line within the Vivado GUI or added to the init TCL script that Vivado runs on startup.

set_param board.repoPaths C:/

Vivado will run an init script (if one exists) from the user local directory on startup. Setting the board files repository paths can be added by creating or modifying the init file in the user home directory.

  • Windows: %APPDATA%/Roaming/Xilinx/Vivado/Vivado_init.tcl
  • Linux: $HOME/.Xilinx/Vivado/Vivado_init.tcl
